ADMISSION POLICY AND PROCEDURES

Heritage Preparatory Academy exists to glorify God, by assisting Christian parents in their God-given responsibility of training their children to be Christ-like leaders in their homes, churches, communities, and the world. Heritage Prep is dedicated to strengthening families and providing the opportunity for students to acquire a high degree of academic excellence.

PARENT AND STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Heritage Preparatory Academy has opened the admissions process for the 2007-2008 school year. This process begins with attendance by one or both parents to one of our Information Meetings. Applications are only available to those who have attended the meeting. Both parental involvement and student cooperation is essential for HPA to fulfill its mission. Therefore, as a condition of acceptance to this school, the parents and student applying for admission must fulfill the following requirements:

a) Parents must provide HPA with a completed application form for each child applying for admission, including academic records, health forms, and other information as specified in the application packet.

b) Parents and students must sign a form stating their acknowledgement of our Statement of Faith as an expression of who we are and what will be taught in the classroom AND expressing their own personal commitment to Jesus Christ.

c) Parents and students must be willing to abide by the school's rules and regulations as expressed in our handbook or by the administrator.

d) Parents must be committed to providing partnership instruction in the satellite classroom on the days that the child is not attending HPA in order to provide quality education in accordance with state laws. Parents are responsible for providing regular structure for completing home assignments, checking assignment sheets and monitoring the student's completion of these assignments, and helping the student as needed. Students are strongly discouraged from working during reasonable school hours on the days that they are not attending HPA.

e) The family must be active members of the Body of Christ and regularly attend a Christian church.

f) Parents and students must be committed to the university-model learning experience and Christian environment of HPA. Each student must be willing to adhere to HPAs Student Code of Conduct, Dress Code Policy, and other policies.

g) Parents must be willing to use a Christian Conciliation Service to settle any disputes.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

1. Attend an Information Meeting

This is required so that parents fully understand the expectations of their involvement in the education of their child at HPA. Parental involvement is mandatory.

2. Review all HPA Information and Pray

Please carefully go over each handout given at the information meeting. If you have any questions, please contact us. Pray about this important decision.

3. Complete an Admissions Forms

Once you have prayed and are convinced that this is where your family should be, complete the application (one supplement per additional child), include the $35.00 application fee, and return it to HPA.

4. Family Interview

Each family applying for admission will be interviewed to verify that HPA is the best educational option for your child. This meeting enables us to personally answer any questions about HPA. The admissions committee conducts this one-time interview. A representative of HPA will call to arrange the interview once your application has been processed.

5. Letter of Acceptance

Once the interview has been completed, each family will receive a letter informing them of the committee's decision. Once accepted the student may register for classes.

6. Testing and Evaluation

Placement testing is required for all new students and can be completed any time during the admissions process. The tests are given to determine the entrance grade level based on your child's Math and English skills in relation to our curriculum. A one-time $25.00 testing fee is required prior to testing.

Heritage Preparatory Academy (a program of Heritage Family Ministries, Inc) shall make no distinction in its admission policies with regard to an individual's race, color, or national and ethnic origin.
